On our way home from Corsica we had the wish to expand our travel with a few days in Italy. We booked an apartment in the Tuscany seaside resort – Viareggio.
The city turned out to be a real-life Italian seaside town. With baths that stretched from one side of the town to the other side of the town.
It was not our dream town, but I have drawn the good memories forward here with pictures and a little text from the city.
For us, it came as a surprise and we had some difficulties finding ourselves in the city. The town was filled with Italian tourists and consisted of long promenades that followed the shore. Behind was the city Viareggio, which was warm and boisterous.
We did not bathe that much on the beach like we had expected, as it costs a lot of money to get an entry ticket. The ticket to a bath gave us access to a couchette with a parasol and a locker to keep our things safe while we were out in the water.
The days that we were there the waves were strong and dirty, therefore, we did not go that much to the beach even though we had bought tickets.

However, in return, we had a great pleasure and put on a swimming cap (like you should) and bathe by an old and classic public bath.
And who cries … when the food you get is so delicious, fresh and a real life genuine Italian style?
We had booked an apartment through Airbnb, but something happened from the tenant’s side. Therefore, we could not get the home we wished for, but what do you do when the tenant is a grandchild from the first art family, who build and resided in Viareggio?
We enjoyed the wine, the scenery, the warm weather, the art and the authentic Italian feeling … right there, in the middle of the crowded tourist city, Viareggio.
